COUNSELLING
About Me
I’m Cassie, originally from Aberdeen, I have lived in Edinburgh for over five years. I embrace working with people of all identities, backgrounds and life situations. I feel passionate about helping my clients to understand themselves and prioritise their mental health. Modern life can be so fast-paced but it is still so important to give yourself time to check in with YOU!
My experience includes working with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, body image, gender identity, trauma, relationships, and life transitions.
I gained my Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Edinburgh, and am qualified in the person-centred and psychodyamic schools of therapy. I have a certification in online and telephone counselling. I am a Practitioner Member of COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) and adhere to the relevant Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice. Anyone wishing to make a complaint relating to my practice should follow the COSCA Complaints Procedure.
What I Offer
I offer counselling for adults in-person from my counselling room in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh on a Wednesday evening. I also offer online sessions via Zoom. Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time each week.
I feel passionately about offering affordable counselling sessions therefore my fee can vary. My Standard fee is £40-£60 per session, however I can also offer a low-cost option to clients of £25-£35 per session. I accept bank transfer, cash and credit/debit cards.
I offer short term and long term counselling, depending on your circumstances. The length of our time together is completely flexible and all centred around your needs and I will do periodic check ins with you to discuss this.
Whether you have had counselling before or are considering it for the first time, I offer a free 30 minute initial appointment. This give you the chance to meet me and to visit the counselling space. Also, we will use this opportunity to talk about what brings you to counselling and what you might be looking for. This can help you decide if you would like to begin weekly therapy with me.
My Approach
As a Counsellor who has trained in both person-centred and psychodynamic schools of therapy, I am committed to providing a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space for my clients. The person-centred approach forms the foundation of my practice, where I place utmost value on creating a supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely. I believe that every individual has the capacity for personal growth and self-understanding, and my aim is to facilitate this process.
Additionally, my training in the psychodynamic approach equips me to delve into the complexities of the unconscious mind and explore how past experiences may influence present behaviours and emotions. Together with my clients, I work to uncover underlying patterns and gain insight into how these patterns may be shaping their current struggles.
In today’s fast-paced world, taking the time for self-reflection and mental well-being is crucial. I am dedicated to assisting my clients in prioritizing their mental health and understanding themselves more deeply.
Overall, access to both person-centred and psychodynamic principles, allows me to offer a holistic and empathetic therapeutic experience, supporting clients on their journey towards self-discovery, healing, and growth.
